Peanut Butter Bars

Today is a big day!  I just so happened to stumble across a small piece of my childhood! (And I also found a fun blog!)  When I was a little girl Peanut Butter Bars were my favorite after lunch treat, bar none! ;)  While other kids were buying orange Push-Ups and Nutty Buddies, I always went for this particular baked good!  I have often wondered how in the world the lunch ladies made the deliciousness wrapped in plastic wrap.  I have not had one in years so just imagine my excitement today when I found this:
Lunch Lady Peanut Butter Bars
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup peanut butter
2 cups oatmeal (not quick)
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
Cream first 3 ingredients together. Add the vanilla, eggs, and peanut butter and combine. Add the remaining ingredients and mix together. Spread dough on a greased jelly roll pan (18x13x1"). Make at 350 degrees for 15 minutes (until golden brown). While hot spread 1 1/2 cups peanut butter on top. Cool so that the peanut butter has become solid again (I usually throw them in the fridge so they set up faster and so I can eat them sooner!). Spread your favorite chocolate frosting on top and cut into bars.
Frosting:
1 cube margarine, softened
1/4 cup milk
1-2 tsp vanilla (depending on your taste)
3 cereal spoonfuls of cocoa
2-3 cups of powdered sugar
Mix all ingredients with a hand mixer until smooth and spread on top of bars

Oh yea, read it and believe it!  I will be trying these out very soon!  Stay tuned for an update!
Thanks so much to Six Sister's Stuff!  You seriously made my day! :)

Gone Fishin'

For Father's Day Graham had one request...he wanted the three of us to go fishing!  So that's just what we did!  We made our way to this little honey hole:
And Graham caught at least 15 or so of these very little guys:
Wells found them very amusing and wanted to play!  He just couldn't understand why he couldn't hold them!
But he did learn the basics of the sport from his daddy:
While Graham was busy doing this:
Wells and I did a little fishing our on way:
With bread!  Needless to say we didn't have as much luck as Graham so we moved on to better things!
...like splashing!  Now doesn't this just look like a little boys heaven!
It was such a fun field trip!  I highly recommend it!  And it really is true!  "It's not the fishin'...It's the time together!"

A Room Un-Do

I always love posts about room make-overs and have so much fun seeing how creative and innovative people are!  Unfortunately, this post is the opposite of that!  The one thing I am having to get used to the older Wells gets is that things do not always go as planned...nor do things stay the way that I think they should!  Take Wells' room for example!
Wells' nursery at 3 months of age:
Wells turned 3 months on Christmas Day...ahem, the wreath!
My sweet first graders painted the pictures below!
And here is Wells' room at almost age 2:
Notice the rip in his diaper stacker...which came from putting cars, trucks, books, and blocks inside and then pulling them out as hard as he could!
Remember the nice clean wall under the window...that's now packed with toys!
And another nook stuffed with toys...
 And yet another!
And this, it's just a hole in the wall!  Wells did that one day as he was bulldozing the door as hard as he could!  In the battle of doorknob vs. the wall, the doorknob won!

And you know, as much as I love order and NEAT...I wouldn't trade this for anything in the world!  (However, I do look forward to a house with a playroom!  I mean, come on now, a girl's gotta have something to look forward to!  And a little boy's gotta have another room to torment!)

Summer Par-tay!

I love a good party!  And who better to party it up with than Michelle from Ten June!  So, summer fun is the theme!  And nothing says summer fun to me like a beach vacay!  Here are some pictures from last summer!  Locations: Emerald Isle, NC, Holden Beach, NC and Beaufort, SC!
Life's a beach, right!

And a side note: Cheers to my 100th post!
Wahoo!
Here's to at least a few hundred more!!

Weekend Fun!

Last weekend the Butler kiddos were staying at Mom and John's which meant only one thing...total fun for us!  Here are just a few snapshots of the festivities that took place at our house:
CeCe and Pat Pat are super styling in my t-shirts!
Tee and Uncle Graham had many man-to-man conversations!
Tee seemed pretty amused by the whole thing!
 Who's going to catch it?
Despite Graham's seemingly aggressive approach Patterson had a ball, no pun intended!
TGIF!  I hope you all have a fantastic weekend with snapshots of fun a'plenty!
